He has learned to settle better and while he hasn’t won since landing a maiden hurdle a year ago he’s been performing well in recent months. There should be a nice handicap to be won with him and it is encouraging he’s allayed doubts about how he’d handle testing ground. He has been running well on testing ground and hopefully he will win a nice handicap before too long.

He has lost his way and his last win was a novice chase at Punchestown at the end of 2008-09. He’s a three-time winner over hurdles and fences and we’re hoping we can get him back to winning ways. He is suited by plenty of dig in the ground and will be mixing it between fences and hurdles. He has met with a little training setback and won’t run until the New Year.

Koko Lane
4g Kalanisi - Bella Bella
J Carthy

He’s come forward with each run and won a bumper by a short head at Downpatrick last month. We’re hoping he will continue to progress when he goes hurdling. We think he will appreciate decent ground. The owner was keen to run him at Cheltenham. He will go jumping now.

Laganbank
5g Norwich - Listen Up
Mrs Rose Boyd

He was a bit disappointing when going for a hat-trick over hurdles at Galway in November and stepping up to 2m4f on very testing ground probably had something to do with that. There are more hurdle races to be won with him and while 2m4f should be okay on better ground he will probably drop back in distance next time. He’s a fine, big chasing type and one to look forward to when he goes over fences at a later stage. He struggled on the ground a bit at Navan and Punchestown and we will give him a break now until the ground dries out.

Laughing Boy

He won a maiden first time over hurdles at last year’s Listowel festival. The ground was good and those conditions suit him well. He has had only three runs over hurdles and should win a handicap. We see him as a horse for the spring.

Lios A Choill
7g Saddlers Hall - Shuil Liss

He has won a bumper and a maiden hurdle. He jumped well when third in his first chase at Punchestown but subsequently pulled up at Fairyhouse and is probably not a heavy ground horse.

Local Celebrity

He was consistent in bumpers and when we changed tactics and made the running he came good at Clonmel in November. He may have been a bit fortunate to win his maiden hurdle at Navan (the favourite unseated) but he is improving all the time.

Loch Ard

He was placed a couple of times over 1m from only four starts for David Wachman and we bought him at the Tattersalls sales with a view to a juvenile hurdle campaign.

Lord Gale
5g Bach - Wire Lady
Mrs Robin Birley

He won well at Navan before disappointing on better ground in the Weatherbys Champion Bumper. Although he ran second on good going at Punchestown he’s best suited by winter ground. He went close when second in his first run over hurdles at Fairyhouse. That was over 2m 4f and we think that staying will be his forte. He went on to run a good race when second to Vesper Bell at the same course at the end of January. He should pick up a race before too long.

Maggie Connolly
6m Definite Article - Catch The Breeze
Hugh Curtis

She won her only bumper and after jumping big on her hurdling debut came good at the fourth try at Limerick’s Christmas meeting. She hasn’t run since but is almost ready to go. We’ll be looking mainly at mares hurdles for her.

Moon Over Mandalay
5g Dashing Blade - Miss Esther
Dermot Owens

A fine big brother to Moon Over Miami. He disappointed us when third in a Clonmel bumper and didn’t show anything like the ability he shows us at home. We’ll run in another bumper or two before going over hurdles. Maybe with his pedigree he needs spring ground.

Morning Royalty
4g King’s Theatre - Portryan Native
Henry Murphy

He is a compact, sharp type and he showed nice improvement in form to win by a big margin at Punchestown. He will go over hurdles now.

Mourad
6g Sinndar - Mouramara
Teahon Consulting Ltd

Consistent last season and he enjoyed a good campaign, winning a couple of Grade 2s and finishing in the frame four times in Grade 1s. He ran nicely in the Hattons Grace when second to the improving Voler La Vedette and again at Leopardstown at Christmas. He disappointed in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham in January and he will have to improve if he is to go back there for the Festival in March.

Mozoltov
5g Kayf Tara - Fairmead Princess
Martin Lynch

He came up against a good one in Mount Benbulben when second on his debut at Thurles in February. You’d imagine he’d be able to win a bumper before he goes hurdling and, looking further down the line, he looks a lovely chasing type.

Won a couple of long-distance chases at Musselburgh and Ayr before joining us and we will be running him in staying chases. He’s a maiden over hurdles so I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of trying to win one with him some time

Our Monty

OR 139c 118h
He’s been off since winning the Cork National two years ago and now pre-training but we’ll have to see how he progresses. If all goes well it will be well into the New Year before he appears. I’d imagine he will mix between hurdling and chasing.

Passage Vendome
5g Polish Summer - Herodiade
F N Doyle

He disappointed first time out when favourite for a bumper at the Punchestown festival before getting off the mark at Tramore two runs later without showing the ability he has displayed at home. He’s had a wind operation since and we will see how he copes with winter ground but he may need it much better underfoot. We might try to win another bumper but more likely he’ll go hurdling.

Paul Kristian
8g Overbury - Farmerís Pet
Derrick Mossop

He’s been off since winning his second bumper impressively at Gowran Park in January 2010 and it’s heading for four years since he finished second on his only start over hurdles. It goes without saying he’s had problems but he is back and pre-training and will run over hurdles when he is ready.

Pickapocketortwo
7g Fruits Of Love - Lamp Of Phoebus

He has won over hurdles and has run well on his two starts since landing a 3m maiden at Sligo in August. He put up a great performance when winning a 2m 6f hurdle at Thurles but disappointed when pulling up over the same course and distance in January. He got bogged down in the ground that day but we hope to have him back to form shortly.

Pique Sous

He won his bumper on testing ground and his maiden hurdle on good, so he is adaptable. He’s a fine, big horse and won a novice chase at Thurles. He was then disappointing at Navan but maybe he’s a horse that likes to race fresh.

Pozyc
5g Polish Summer - Zycia

OR 123h

He won a handicap hurdle on testing ground at Listowel in September and ran well on the Flat when second in the Leopardstown November Handicap. He disappointed at Naas but then ran a good second to Sweet My Lord at Cork. He was then disappointing at Punchestown and seems to prefer much better ground nowadays.

He has loads of experience over fences and his three chase wins include the John Smith’s Handicap over 3m1f at Aintree on Grand National day in April. We got him at the end of last season and he ran okay with a big weight in the Troytown at Navan

Quadrillon

Disappointing last season after winning a 2m4f novice chase at Gowran Park a year ago but we’re hoping he will be a decent staying handicap chaser. He ran a good race in the Troytown and will continue in staying handicap chases

Quaquo De Flotte
7g Comte Du Bourg – Isati’S
The Three D Partnership

Successful in a 2m3f bumper at Limerick on his debut a year ago, he was pulled up on his only start over hurdles. He relishes testing conditions and the plan is to campaign him in staying novice hurdles. He ran well to finish fourth on his first run back at Naas and then finished third over 3 miles at Gowran in December. He finished well when second over 2m 6f at Thurles in January and is slowly improving. He should win over the maximum trip.

Quel Esprit
7g Saint Des Saints - Jeune D’Esprit

Things didn’t work out for him over fences last season when he failed to complete on his three attempts after starting off well with a win at Limerick. Hopefully he will get things together this season and enjoy a good campaign. He jumped well to win at Naas and followed up with a very easy win at Thurles. He looked as though he had his confidence back. He will now go for the Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown.

We are looking at another short season for her as it’s worked so well and she is unlikely to run before the Cheltenham Festival. We’ll be trying to win the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle with her for the fourth time in a row and complete a hat-trick in the Grade 1 Ladbrokes.com World Series Hurdle at the Punchestown festival. She’s in pre-training and I’m delighted to report she did very well over the summer. She looks a lot stronger

Quiscover Fontaine

He had a light campaign and finished with a good fourth in the Irish Grand National. That was the first time he’d raced beyond 2m5f and he’s never won beyond 2m4f, but his pedigree suggests stamina and the National run backs that up. He made his seasonal bow at Fairyhouse but he jumped too big that day. It was great to see him win over the minimum trip at Leopardstown over Christmas.

Raise Hell
4g Presenting - Markiza
Gigginstown House Stud

A brother to Lovethehigherlaw who won the Grade 1 bumper at Punchestown for us last season so it will be interesting to see how he fares. He didn’t have much luck in point-to-points and we were a bit disappointed with his first run in a bumper at Navan.

A big easy-moving type who goes well on soft ground. He won over hurdles last season and has had a run over fences. He should progress and we’re looking forward to a campaign in staying novice chases. He jumped well to win a novice chase over two and a half miles at Punchestown in November. He then fell at Leopardstwon and ran very disappointingly at Naas in January.

Both wins over hurdles were on good ground so we’ll give the worst winter ground a miss. He’s run over fences but he will revert to hurdles. He is on a break now and we will be looking at middle-distance handicaps in the spring.

Robin Angevin
6g Saint Cyrien - Gypsie DíArtois

He’s run well in bumpers although disappointing a bit on soft ground for the first time at Listowel in September. He disappointed badly in testing conditions at Punchestown in January and we will now wait for better ground in the spring.

He won a bumper and a 2m1f novice hurdle in Britain before joining us. He was also placed several times over hurdles and is a nice type who’ll go novice chasing. He met with a setback but hopefully he will have a run or two over hurdles later in the season. We will keep his novice status over fences for next year

He won a 2m4f bumper early last season and stamina proved his forte when he went hurdling. We were surprised he won on his chase debut at Naas as we thought the trip would be too short but his jumping was so good. He ran a terrific race over 2 miles at Naas last time and was then second to Flemenstar, who went on to boost the form at Leopardstown. He goes on any ground and will be entered for Cheltenham

Make Your Mark

Showed that he acts on quick ground when winning his only point-to-point at Lisronagh in April. He won his bumper in good style at Punchestown and then won his maiden hurdle impressively at Leopardstown. We were pleased when he then finished a good third to Boston Bob in a grade 2 novice hurdle at the end of January.

He is improving all the time and should make a good

We’ll start over hurdles but he’ll have no trouble switching to fences if we decide that is the way to go. He is a big chasing type who should stay well and he was placed in chases in France last year. He ran well when second at Leopardstown over Christmas and then won his maiden hurdle over 2m 3f at Naas. He will be entered in the staying novice hurdles at Cheltenham.

Midnight Game

a couple of Listed races and had a rating of 102. He was second in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown before running in the Royal Bond Hurdle. He won at Leopardstown after being dropped in class and followed up when landing a good novice hurdle at Naas. He really needs better ground and will be entered in the Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Mikael D’Haguenet
7g Lavirco - Fleur D’Haguenet

He’s never shown the same flair over fences he displayed when he was the top staying novice hurdler in season 2008-09. He didn’t seem to enjoy jumping fences last season and you’d have to think his confidence was dented when he fell on his chasing debut. The likelihood is we will concentrate on a hurdling campaign. We were disappointed with him at Navan and it was great to see him getting his nose in front at Fairyhouse and Punchestown. He then went on to win easily at Naas and he will be entered in the Champion Hurdle and Stayers Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Midnight Oil
