The 2.5 furlong woodchip gallop is located just across the road from the stable yard
and after warming up in the enclosed sand arena, the horses limber up on the 400m hack across to the exercise area.
Typically exercise involves a series of fartlek / interval style workouts before cooling off on the hack back to the yard
Closutton has extensive schooling facilities for the horses ranging from baby hurdles and fences
to fully specified racecourse standard hurdles and fences.
All the obstacles are built to be very inviting to the horse and to encourage them to jump them well and enthusiastically.
The horses begin their jumping careers schooling over the smaller obstacles, thereby building up
their confidence and ability before facing the full size hurdles and fences
It is our aim to have all the horses jumping to their very best before they ever reach the racecourse.
The horses benefit from the use of two walkers which are used extensively throughout the year
as well as the many railed paddocks which surround the stable area.
All the horses are regularly turned out to enjoy a pick of grass and a roll in the mud!
